An infographic showing a 5-stage design framework (Bearings, Evidence, Activation, Response and Substantiation) as a bridge enabling a bear to cross a road.
Student project from EUQ648 Design for Learning, Queensland University of Technology, 2021
I designed this infographic as part of a project to develop and present an instructional design framework. My BEARS framework (Bearings, Evidence, Activation, Response and Substantiation) was influenced by D.School's five-stage design thinking model and the Agile product development methodology. It also referenced Wiggins and McTighe's backwards design framework and the rapid prototyping framework described by Tripp and Bichelmeyer.
The infographic uses the concept of a wildlife bridge, as seen on Canadian highways, which enables bears and other animals to safely cross their territory. This visual and narrative element proved a successful way of engaging my peers when I presented the finished project.
